When Seinfeld comes out on DVD, do you think its creators will be
merciful enough to rid it of that awful laughtrack. It's the one thing I
don't like about Seinfeld and it would be perfect w/o it. I haven't
purchased any sitcoms on DVD, so I've not a clue. Thanks.

It'd be nice to have a choice.
I bought a tape of Red Dwarf where the laugh track was removed.
Was pretty good, but the laugh track doesn't bother me so much anyway.

I think it works. Mash no. Seinfeld yes.

Did Seinfeld have a laugh track for all 9 seasons???
It seems, maybe around season 5, they started to get that big sitcom
audience applause when K (or others) would make their 1st appearance on the
ep, then, it seemed to stop. I remember hearing it was stopped
intentionally...

I would love it without the laugh track. But I think we'd notice that it was
missing. A lot of times the actors pause to let the laugh track finish.

I hate canned laughter, but genuine studio-audience laughter is fine
with me. I do agree with the original poster (10 years ago!) that an
annoying laugh from one individual that cuts through the general
laughter like a machete can ruin the episode for me. There's an
obnoxious lady laughing in "The Slicer" as well; maybe it's the same
person.
